Dr. Adam Bordeman is an associate professor of accounting at the Orfalea College of Business. His area of expertise is financial reporting and he has taught BUS 214 (Introduction to Financial Accounting), BUS 321 (Intermediate Accounting I), GSA 545 (Accounting Research and Communication), and GSB 511 (Accounting for Managers). His professional experience as both an auditor and an accountant in private industry resonates in his teaching. In the classroom, Dr. B brings the material to life through his enthusiasm and demonstrates real-world applicability. He hopes to inspire students to work hard and be their best.

Dr. B has also published research in outlets such as: The Journal of Accounting Research, The Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Issues in Accounting Education, and The Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking. His research primarily focuses on the relationship between accounting information and capital markets. Specifically, he has examined the link between accounting judgment and reporting comparability, the propensity of managers to take actions to avoid debt covenant violation, and the relationship between accounting attributes like comparability and consistency and cost of capital. He pursues research that advances our understanding of the information content of accounting and informs policy and decision-making.

Dr. Bordeman received his B.S. and M.S.A. from Marquette University and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado. Outside of work, he enjoys getting outdoors with his wife and three children.
