Izzy Kamrath
Izzy Kamrath couldn’t wait to return to Cal Poly after completing her undergraduate degree in Statistics. “I went to Cal Poly for my undergrad, and I couldn’t resist coming back for another year. Cal Poly was the best option for affordable, quality education,” she shared. With a desire to expand her skillset, Izzy pursued an MSBA to transition her technical background into actionable business insights.
The program gave her both the confidence and tools to succeed professionally. “The industry projects prepared me for the real-world questions I might face after graduation,” she said. These projects, paired with a well-rounded curriculum, helped her translate analytics into recommendations that drive business decisions. Izzy’s dedication earned her an Academic Excellence Award during the program.
Throughout the fast-paced year, Izzy prioritized academics, spending long hours studying and collaborating with classmates in the library and grad lounge. These experiences fostered strong friendships. “I met some of my best friends in the program because of the time we spent learning together,” she reflected. Outside of class, Izzy also worked as a grader for Cal Poly’s Statistics courses, reinforcing her academic background.
Among her favorite experiences, the industry project stood out. “It gave me real-world experience in the field I would enter after graduation and plenty of material for interviews,” she explained. She also enjoyed Data Visualization, a course that built her confidence using Tableau, a tool she continues to rely on for creating business visualizations.
Since graduating, Izzy has thrived as a Business Analyst at AT&T in Los Angeles, earning two promotions in three years. Looking ahead, she aspires to transition into a leadership role where she can mentor and manage a team, continuing to make a meaningful impact on the business.
Her advice for new students? “Focus on strengthening your weaknesses. Whether technical or business-oriented, lean on your classmates to learn from their expertise and build a well-rounded skillset.”
