Many graduates from economic programs pursue careers in finance, the most popular being in banks, brokerage firms, and insurance companies. However, the application of economics spans a wide variety of fields. So, our graduates have also found work in consulting, sports analytics, retail analytics, marketing analytics, research, software, healthcare, education, entertainment, defense, transportation, energy, and the consumer goods sector. Some of our graduates choose to work with leading governmental organizations such as the US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Veterans Affairs department. Other popular companies for our graduates include Uber, KPMG, Berkeley Research Group, OnPoint Analytics, Oracle and many more. Specifically, the quantitative analysis and critical thinking skills gained in Cal Poly’s MSQE program equip graduates achieve significant growth at their places of employment, often moving onto managerial and directorial positions. Graduates are also substantially prepared to continue their educational careers in various PhD programs if they choose to.
